私たちの使命

Our mission is simple :create the most comfortable, stylish and modern sandals on the planet..To achieve this, we’ve updated the ancient craft of Mexican huarache sandal-making with contemporary footwear design and engineering techniques, using cruelty-free materials. With a return to a traditional design philosophy, we’ve beautifully reimagined the classic huarache with innovative features that deliver on everyday wearability from the beach to the boulevard.

私たちの使命はシンプルで、地球上でもっとも快適で、スタイリッシュでモダンなサンダルを作ることです。この使命を達成するために、私たちは、メキシコで古くから培われてきたワラチサンダルの製法を、現代のフットウェアデザインとエンジニアリングの技術を用いて、ヴィーガン素材を使ってアップデートしました。伝統的なデザイン哲学に立ち返り、ビーチからタウンまで日常的に履けるよう、革新的な特徴を備えたクラシックなワラチサンダルを再構築しました。

Inspiration Behind Malibu Sandals

世界で最も快適で、スタイリッシュで、モダンなサンダルを作るために、私たちはマリブに代表されるカリフォルニアの歴史と自然の美しさからインスピレーションを得ています。過去を振り返りながら前進するデザインアプローチは、私たちのフットウェアデザインと技術開発の手法に影響を与え続けています。

時代を超えたすべてのデザインと同様に、イノベーションと進化は避けられません。

私たちは当初、メキシコのワラチサンダルという古代の工芸品にインスピレーションを得ました。このサンダルは、ヨーロッパの植民地時代の影響を受ける何世紀も前に作られたものです。原産地はメキシコ、特にハリスコ州、ミチョアカン州、ユカタン州だと言われています。ワラチという言葉は、ミチョアカン州のプレぺチャ族が話すタラスカン語の「クワラチ」という言葉に由来しています。さらに、その起源は、マヤのカイテスサンダルと古代写本に見られるスペイン統治前の履物との間に明確な関連性があります。

伝統的にハンドメイドで革から作られるワラチの原始的なデザインは、複雑に織り込まれたパターンが特徴で、非常に耐久性が高い履物となります。

About The Partnership

As a nature-loving brand, Malibu Sandals is committed to
protecting the native species with whom we share a home in the beautiful
Santa Monica Mountains. It is core to our mission:

“Be Kind to Animals. Don’t Wear Them.”

Since 1998, the California Wildlife Center has worked
tirelessly to protect the local animals. They rescue and rehabilitate
sick, injured and orphaned woodland creatures and marine mammals while
educating the community on environmental best practices. 

Out of respect for this work and the native wildlife, a
percentage of the proceeds from the sales of Malibu Sandals will go
directly to benefit the California Wildlife Center.
